Wednesday 7 May 2008 LOICZ IPO and SSC Members received awards from Tasneem Essop [Minister Environmental affairs and Tourism] and Guy Midgley [Chairperson of the Local Organising Committee] at the official IGBP dinner on May 2008. The posters of J. Weichselgartner (LOICZ) and N. Rabalais (Hypoxia in the Northern Golf of Mexico) won the first prizes for the best public and expert poster. Moreover, runner-up was the public poster of W. Dennison (Scientifically based Environmental Report Cards as a Tool for Environmental Management)

SAMS is a collaborative centre of the UK Natural Environment Research Council.
